Empowering Texas Youth

Empowering Texas Youth uses a practical approach to identify and encourage important people, places and activities necessary to reduce high-risk behaviors and strengthen positive attitudes and behaviors. These vibrant community initiatives help develop positive relationships between adults and young people.

In today’s world young people are inundated with conflicting messages about the choices they make for their life today and for their future. Communities need a tremendous power to protect youth from many different harmful or unhealthy choices. Empowering Texas Youth uses concrete, common sense and positive experiences to influence choices young people make and help them become caring, responsible adults.

Empowering Texas Youth increases the chances that young people will have positive attitudes and behaviors by providing leadership, knowledge and resources to promote healthy youth and communities.

Applying a program based on the 40 Developmental Assets® outlined by the Search Institute of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Empowering Texas Youth provides the external and internal support necessary for the young people understand the boundaries and expectations of their developing social competencies and maintain positive values. Empowering Texas Youth helps communities implement the tools to encourage a constructive use time and a commitment to learning in the young people of Texas.
